opening the summer of 2011 as a retro style recording studio in the heart of ne Minneapolis “art district”. the pearl’s mission has been to provide a great service with an old-school analog feel at an affordable price. offering both analog & digital recording services to bands, singers, ensembles, etc; the pearl has worked with bands of every level, genre, & type of project - from last import & products to little fevers to we are the willows.

now in a new space that has been built from the ground up with our own hands after the original studio burned down, we take all the technology & new ways while also keeping that homey feel - along with hella 60s vibes.

Zachary hollander

an award-winning producer, recording/mix engineer, & owner of the pearl recording studio.

majoring in audio engineering at full sail university in Florida, Zach would then intern at pachyderm recording studio in cannon falls - where bands such as nirvana, the Jayhawks, babes in toyland, & blood n stuff recorded - later being hired as an in-house engineer. since his time at pachyderm, Zach went on to open the pearl recording studio, where he’s been since 2011.

fast forward to 2022, Zach & studio manager, Jane Halldorson, have devised a way to give bands industry standard recordings at an affordable price, while also helping bands navigate the industry post-recording.

Jane Halldorson

along with playing drums in multiple bands (last import, Johnny yuma, honey hole, the cold casuals), she started with booking at the garage & first avenue and now is running hospitality for live nation & south sound block party. Jane also books tours for bands & is the current talent buyer at underground music venue.

she went to school for audio production at Hennepin technical college & music business at berklee online.
